Color: Luis Barragan & Mark Rothko.

Considered the most important Mexican architect of the 20th century, he uses color and light to define spaces that are both minimal and spiritual. Barragan once said, only in intimate communion with solitude may man find himself. solitude is good company and my architecture is not for those who fear or shun it. When compared to the work of the abstract expressionist, mark Rothko. also active in the mid 1900s, Rothko’s color field paintings evoke a similar spiritual feeling.

charming new bart posters.

A new series of art posters created by Bay Area illustrator Josh Ellingson started appearing in BART stations this August. These charming works celebrate the creative imaginations of our youngest riders on their "First Ride." I love these posters i have started noticing them at west oakland and embarcadero..i'll try to snap a few more... they make me smile after a long day x

Puffin classics

These beautiful new cover illustrations are stunning in their simplicity, tri colors and use of repetitive patterns.

Stuart Haygarth

He collects prices of plastic/trash that he find on the beach and elevates them to art! sound familiar, is that not what we all do? The stairs at the V&A are made from frame offcuts. His use of color is striking!
